CLAT Exam Pattern

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is structured to assess the aptitude and skills of aspiring law students. The exam comprises 150 multiple-choice questions, covering various subjects crucial for legal studies.

Each question carries one mark, and the total duration of the exam is two hours. Candidates should be mindful of the negative marking scheme, where 0.25 marks are deducted for every incorrect answer.

The exam is divided into five sections: English Language, Current Affairs, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Techniques. Each section is designed to test different skills, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of the candidate’s abilities.

Understanding the exam pattern is essential for effective preparation, enabling candidates to allocate their time and resources efficiently during their study sessions.

CLAT Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the CLAT exam, candidates must meet specific criteria set by the examination authorities. Firstly, candidates should have completed their 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board, securing a minimum of 45% marks. For SC/ST candidates, the minimum required percentage is 40%.

Additional Eligibility Requirements

There is no upper age limit for appearing in the CLAT exam, allowing candidates of all ages to pursue their legal education dreams. Additionally, candidates must be Indian nationals or NRIs/NRI-sponsored candidates to apply.

It’s important to note that candidates with a history of criminal convictions or academic misconduct are ineligible for admission through CLAT. Prospective applicants should ensure they meet all criteria before applying.
